Qatar World Cup: Arrest warrant issued for Mohammed Bin Hammam, the man who brought the event to the Emirate

Former Asian confederation president Mohamed Bin Hammam , who was already involved in the impeachment of former FIFA vice-president Reynald Temari and was banned for life on suspicion of corruption in 2011, has now come under the spotlight of French justice.

L’Equipe reveals that last June an arrest warrant was issued for Bin Hammam , who is accused of “acts of private corruption linked to the awarding of the 2022 World Cup” and has previously been summoned to hearings several times without ever appearing!

We recall that the “Times” had revealed secret payments that helped Qatar win the bid for the World Cup. Files brought to light by the British Media revealed how Qatar’s victory in the race to secure the right to host the 2022 tournament was sealed by a secret campaign by Mohammed Bin Hammam, the country’s top football official at the time.
