Angelos Postecoglou has spoken ahead of Tottenham’s clash with Liverpool, revealed his childhood crush on the Reds, and idolized Jurgen Klopp.
Tottenham‘s big match against Liverpool stands out from the schedule of the 7th matchday of the Premier League. August’s Premier League manager of the year, Angelos Postecoglou, spoke at his usual press conference and revealed his fondness for the Reds as a child while praising Jurgen Klopp for his influence on the Premiership.
“I used to have a Liverpool poster but things changed. I also used to watch the Happy Days series but I don’t have any Fonz posters anymore.
Since Jurgen came to the Premier League, the tempo and intensity with which they play with or without the ball is on another level. The Premier League was already a fast-paced league but they took it to another level. At times it all seemed chaotic, but you could see there was a plan.
I was watching Klopp’s Dortmund because I was the manager of the Australian national team and one of our goalkeepers was there at the time. You could see it since then, they played in a similar way,” said the Greek-Australian coach, who also spoke about the nickname “father” given to him by his players.
“I don’t know why my players call me ‘father’. Maybe it has to do with the way I dress and act. Our role is to provide support in any way we can to the players. These are the most important people and some need guidance. I am older, I have more experience in life. If I can pass on to them something from the lessons and mistakes I’ve made in my life, I will,” said Angelos Postecoglou.
